The side panel in Google Workspace apps provide quick access to Calendar, Keep, Tasks, and most recently Voice. Google Calendar on the web now features an add-on for Google Maps.
After first appearing last year, Google today made official the quick access to Maps in the Calendar side panel. When creating events, the location field features a map icon to open the panel to that place. Available to all Google Workspace customers, it’s rolling out now.
Besides letting you quickly see place details and reviews, as well as making sure you have the correct address for an event, this integration allows you to “add trips to your Calendar to help arrive on time by knowing when to leave.”
Predicted traffic and transit at the future time of the event is used for a better estimate of travel time.
The icon for Google Maps appears underneath Keep and Tasks on https://calendar.google.com./ Tapping loads a search field, map view, and two tabs for “Recents” and “Saved.” That first tab is populated by queries from your other signed-in devices, while the second lets you browse Collections/lists.
When you tap on the top box, there are three suggested categories: Groceries, Takeout, and Hotel. Search in this add-on is identical to that of the full app.
