Fewer than 3% of Google searches are done by people who entered the Internet before 1990. That number is still growing, but it doesn’t help much with the hard questions that arise as our world becomes increasingly information-rich. Google released a tool earlier this week that simply adds information to the search engine to make it easier for children and those with visual impairments. The tool is called Google Recents and is showing up after you type in “who is.” Google then displays pictures of important people in your life after you type in “who is.” The result from typing in “who is Hillary Clinton?” We’ve seen this before on popular search engines such as Bing and Yahoo, so it has become more common.

Minor’s privacy settings are different from adults. This tool features a specific kind of filter that not only limits search results to ones that fit minors, but also masks the terms. These terms are as follows: mature and other curse words found in words like “police” or “politician.” A minor is also capable of selecting a proxy address that travels through, for example, their school domain.
