Google Search app gets tablet optimizations on Galaxy tablets

Google recently announced and showcased updates to some of its apps, like the Google Search app. They included enhanced tablet support, drag-and-drop improvements, and full mouse support.

Google’s Search app now has a navigation rail to the left of the homepage. This will enable you to view more content in Google Discover and search results. Unfortunately, this feature doesn’t include Material You MD3 redesign.

As of now, the Search, Discover, and Collections icons on the Google navigation rail do not use a pill-shaped indicator. You’ll find them positioned at the bottom of that tab, next to your thumb.

The new Google Search navigation rail is designed for large-screen devices, such as tablets. This change will give you access to primary destinations and it’s possible that further tweaks and optimizations are still needed.

With all the rumors about Google launching a Pixel tablet in 2023 and coming out with a ‘Pro’ model to combat the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, it’s not hard to see why things are shaping up so well for tablet lovers.
