Google has enabled its first location for the local cloud region located in Israel.

JERUSALEM, Oct 20 (Reuters) – Alphabet’s Google has activated a local cloud region for Israel, providing cloud services to the country’s government and military in a move expected to help increase jobs and economic growth.

Israel signed a deal with Google and Amazon Web Services in May 2021 for an agreement worth more than $1 billion, who will work on the “Nimbus” project.

Israel’s Finance Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that billions of shekels are set to be invested in the country.

Google is predicted to have a $7.6 billion economic impact in Israel by 2030, with the highest number of jobs coming in the high-tech sector and those that support cloud activity.

AWS is expected to activate a new cloud region during 2023.

The global leader in cybersecurity and technology announced the launch of its new cloud service in Israel. The local cloud zones that will be available to Israeli government organizations allow for a faster, more efficient experience when moving important services from on-premise systems to the cloud.
