In October 2020, Google rebranded its paid business tool suite G Suite to Google Workspace, complete with a visual overhaul and new collaboration features. Since then, it has made a lot more sweeping changes, including killing free legacy G Suite accounts and bringing even its free Gmail account service under the Workspace umbrella. To better cater to small businesses and entrepreneurs, the company launched the Workspace Individual plan in June 2021. But unlike other Workspace offerings, the Individual tier did not pack many features, was not a value-for-money option, and was only available in select countries. The company has now expanded access to individual as well as storage for people on the plan.
Google Workspace Individual plans now have 1TB of storage for one account. If you need more, Google One is an option. In the past, you had to purchase separate storage in order to get all that space. Now, it’s just included as standard and upgraded at no extra cost. This means there is room for many more files on Google Drive without worry.
Firstly, Gmail’s advanced mail settings are getting smarter. They now support tags like @firstname, which allows you to multi-send an email that is unique and personalized. Google recently started rolling out tags across all Workspace tiers. However, note that custom email addresses are not supported in the Workspace Individual plan.
The latest release from Google includes an expansion for the Workspace Individual plan to more markets, including the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Portugal and Belgium. The addition of these additional countries comes just weeks after Google ended its $8/month discounted rate for the individual plan. You’ll have to pay $10/month now instead of $8/month in order to still receive significant savings if you choose to go with the annual option.
